Summer is the season of weddings and anniversaries, so congratulations to all who are celebrating these special occasions. My husband and I celebrate 20 years this month, and I absolutely cannot believe it! So I wanted to share a word of encouragement about the promises we make on our wedding days…
Coaches’ wives will sometimes say “I didn’t know what I was getting into when I married a coach!” The beautiful promises made on the wedding day to love, honor and cherish, are easier said than done- especially when the coach is watching film all weekend or when a coaching career moves a family to 3 different cities in 3 years! The truth is that some days (and some seasons) are more challenging than others when trying to live out our marriage vows. But the miracle is this: the One who created marriage, loves weddings and loves the bride and groom more than they could ever love each other, promises to be with us and help us- and HE is the perfect Promise Keeper.
HE promises to strengthen us:
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”- Isaiah 41:10
HE promises to never leave us or forsake us.:
“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”- Deuteronomy 31:8
Lord, we thank you for your faithfulness throughout our days. You keep every promise and overwhelm us with Your love. Give us Your strength to love, honor and cherish our husbands all the days of our lives, and give us Your grace when we fall short. Please bless our marriages.
“…Know this with all your heart, with everything in you, that not one detail has failed of all the good things God, your God, promised you…nothing’s left undone- not so much as a word.” Joshua 23:14 (the Message)
