Fight Song

In sports, many teams have a song. When the music plays during the game, the crowd goes wild, energy increases and it’s just plain exciting! Whatever song becomes associated with the team becomes the rally song. The victory song for the battlefield. Sometimes inspiring the athletes to keep going and to keep believing in themselves.

You might feel like you live on a battlefield and you are not alone! The world, the flesh and the devil are coming at us from all directions. That is why we are called to put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6). The overwhelming struggle of getting things done, possibly being “at war”/having conflict with our husbands and kids, and also fighting exhaustion and discouragement- it is more than we can handle on our own. We need a victory song too! Not to remind us to believe in ourselves, but to remind us to believe and trust in Christ. Focusing on Him through prayer, reading His Word, listening to worship music will often lift our heavy burdens and strengthen us in our weakness!

In the Old Testament, King David (who by the way, did not have his life together) fought many victorious battles and filled the book of Psalms with worship. Find your fight song, give your battle to the Lord, and worship too.

“Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident. One thing I have asked of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple.” Psalm 27:3-4 (ESV)

Lord Jesus,
Thank You for Your peaceful presence and Your strength on the battlefield. You have told us that we will have trials in this life, and we thank you for the gift of praise and worship. Please teach us to worship, and give us victory in You. Amen!
